As I've been growing up the one hobby that was therapeutic and entertaining it seemed as if I was living in another time zone in another planet that all my words turned into fantasies, writing.
I created poems to express my anger, sadness, happiness and excitement. I wasn't a google fan so searching for poetry was not my favourite thing. As I was growing up I took my writing to another level and saw myself performing on stages and platforms, speaking a language of art that awakened feelings and emotions to think in an empathetic way.
I have one lady to thank in absentia and that is a powerful woman who took the words in her head and turned it to logical creativity, Maya Angelou.
Born in on the 4th of April 1928 in St.Louis, Missouri in the United States of America Maya was a poet, civil rights activist, dancer, film producer, television producer, playwright, film director, author, actress and professor. nothing hindered her creativity and how she chose to express it. Her most notable work is her book Ï know why the Caged Bird Sings" which created world recognition. My favourite poem that she wrote was "Men," it was the first poem that inspired me to have a different perception on poetry, and with that inspiration I wrote the "Girl Alive" poem.
Normal is not part of Maya's vocab, as I erase it in the dictionary in my brain I think and steal like an artist, creating my own language and expressing my talents just like how Maya had no limits to who she wanted to become.
